Definition: Infection of the middle ear. Clinical features Pathophysiology
  1. Haemophilus influenzae
  2. Streptococcus pneumoniae
  3. Moraxella catarrhalis
Eustachian tube 10° in infants → 45% in adults. Lengthens 18 mm → 35 mm.


Amoxycillin (or erythromycin if penicillin allergy).


  1. Conductive hearing loss
  2. Tympanic membrane perforation
  3. Acute mastoiditis
