HLA typing

Patients may become sensitised to HLA antigens by:

  1. Pregnancy
  2. Previous transplant
  3. Blood transfusion


Demand in UK is >80 per million population. Transplant activity is 28 per million population.

  2. Morbidity (wound pain, hypertension, proteinuria)

  4. Coercion (living unrelated needs to be approved by ULTRA)
  5. Untreatable condition found
